Cameron Diaz Confirms Acting Retirement
Cameron Diaz appears to have confirmed rumours she has retired from acting after joking about “doing nothing” in a friendly chat with her The Sweetest Thing co-stars.

The 45-year-old star reunited with her castmates Selma Blair and Christina Applegate to discuss their 2002 comedy for a new Entertainment Weekly article, published on Thursday, and when the trio realized they hadn’t hung out since making the movie, Diaz chimed in with an interesting revelation about her current everyday life.
“Goddamn it, why not?” the blonde beauty smiled when entertaining the prospect of the three of them getting together soon. “I mean, I’m down. I’m literally doing nothing.”
“I’m literally doing nothing, too!” Applegate replied. “I’m semi-retired, I haven’t worked for years. I’m a mom, that’s what we do. So I’m around, man.”
“That’s so awesome. I’m totally down. I’m semi-retired, too, and I am actually retired, so I would love to see you ladies,” Cameron revealed, without providing further details.
The Charlie’s Angel star has not filmed a movie since marrying rocker Benji Madden in 2015 and speculation she has left the film industry for good was heightened when Selma hinted at Cameron’s retirement earlier this month, while discussing the possibility of a The Sweetest Thing sequel.
“We were reminiscing about the film,” the Hellboy star told U.K. newspaper Metro. “I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting. She’s like, ‘I’m done’.”
After letting the information slip, Selma took to social media to take back her statement, insisting she was just joking.
“Guys please, I was making a joke in an interview,” Blair wrote on Twitter. “CAMERON DIAZ is NOT retiring from ANYTHING. And for more breaking news: I am NOW retiring from being Cameron Diaz’s spokesperson.”
