FIFA U-20 Women World Cup: Hard-fighting Falconets Through To Quarter Final

Nigeria's Falconets

Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Muhammad Sanusi has assured that the Falconets will work harder at the ongoing U-20 Women’s World Cup.

It took a last-gasp goal from danger-girl Rasheedat Ajibade for the Nigerians to earn a 1-1 draw against China on Monday that flew them to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Reacting to the game, Sanusi urged Nigerians to keep supporting the girls as they take on Spain in the next round match on Thursday.

“After the 1-1 draw against China that ensured that the Falconets reached the quarter-finals, I believe this will boost them and raise the confidence in going further in the championship,” the NFF scribe added.

“The girls and their officials will continue to work hard to better their previous record of losing in the final twice.”

He noted that “All we are asking for is for Nigerians to continue to support the team with prayers for the team to excel in the FIFA under-20 women World Cup holding in France.

“I am happy with the way the team came from the dead to snatch a late equaliser and book their place in the quarter-finals.”

The 2010 runners-up will battle Spain in the quarter-finals on Thurday.
