Zimbabwe’s Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a bid by the country’s opposition party to annul the presidential election results over the alleged rigging in favour of Robert Mugabe’s successor, Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa won 50.8% of the vote compared with Chamisa’s 44.3%.

However, MDC leader Nelson Chamisa went to court to challenge the result, saying he had evidence to show that he was cheated out of the 30 July presidential vote, but the court has ruled otherwise.

“In the final analysis, the court finds the applicant has failed to place before it clear, direct, sufficient and credible evidence” of irregularities, said Chief Justice Luke Malaba in his ruling at the Constitutional Court in Harare.
