Invalid Addresses Hampering NIPOST’s E-commerce Drive, Says Minister

The difficulty in tracing the addresses of Nigerians have made it daunting for the Nigerian Postal Service to deploy technology in courier delivery and other services.

Communications Minister Adebayo Shittu noted this in Lagos on Friday at a one-day stakeholders’ conference on digital addressing and address verification systems.

According to Shittu, the system would be used by NIPOST to trace and also verify addresses of Nigerians.

He added that the Federal Government plans to start off e-government services in rural post offices for Nigerians to process driving licenses and passports.

Shittu noted that this would help in opening up the rural areas as well as provide employment for the teeming masses.
