149 Nigerian Deportees Return From Libya

A batch of 149 Nigerians deported from Libya, Thursday, arrived Lagos aboard a chartered BURAQ Airlines.

The chartered flight with registration number 5A-DMG landed at about 10:45 pm at the NAHCO Tarmac of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport MMIA, Lagos.

Vanguard gathered that the deportees include 107 male adults, 37 female adults including a medical case, 4 female children and 1 female infant just as they were handed over to National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, by Mr AbrhamTamrat, the Programme Managerof nternational Organisation of Migrants IOM, Lagos.

On arrival, they were received by the South West Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Yakubu Suleiman.

The Coordinator admonished the Returnees to shun the urge of seeking greener pasture where it does not exist.

He pointed out that all nations in the world are facing various challenges as a result of global economic meltdown and that due to ingenuity of the present Federal Government that has overcame the recession while most countries that Nigerians are craving to run to are still grappling with the same economic and social issues worst than that of Nigeria.

Nigeria has more than enough resources that can cater for our needs but it is left for every one of us to tap from these abundant resources.

He assured them that governments at Federal and State levels have lots of incentives for the returnees for their rehabilitations and reintegration to compliment European Union and IOM.

All were given a fully airtime recharge handset courtesy of the Offices of The Senior Special Assistant on SDG and Diaspora/Foreign Affairs. Other agencies present were the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the Nigeria Police Force and officials and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). This brought the total number of the Returnees to 301 within a space of a week.
