Kingston - Ceramic artist and sculptor Gene Pearson has died.

The 73 year old, who is famous for his sculptures of heads, died yesterday in a Corporate Area hospital after being admitted  for what a close friend has described as a "massive stroke".

Pearson, whose works are mostly inspired by the arts of ancient Nubia, Benin and the Rastafarian culture was conferred with the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander Class in 2015 and was also awarded the Silver Musgrave Medal from the Institute of Jamaica.

A source who told drifternews.blogspot.com describes Pearson’s death as “Great loss... One who helped in connecting the dots to our ancestors.”
