Saudi Arabia Donates $10m Worth Of Relief Materials To IDPs

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Development fund and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre yesterday donated food items and relief materials worth $10m to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria.

The minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali stated this yesterday at the Ministry of Defence headquarters, Abuja when he played host to a Saudi high powered delegation from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and also Saudi Arabia Development Fund.

He said Nigeria also requires support from other countries in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, especially in the provision of military hardware, intelligence sharing and in the area training.

He commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its intervention in Nigeria in the provision of various humanitarian needs such as relief materials, food aid, health services, supporting education and providing means of decent living for displaced people affected by crises.

Ali said Nigeria as a country is grateful to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the opportunity given to her to be part of the alliance established to fight terrorism and maintain global peace and security.

According to the minister, “ Nigeria has always valued the cordial relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and both countries have continued to collaborate in various areas of mutual interest including military relations.

“Nigeria is involved in the Saudi Arabia led Islamic Military Alliance to fight global terrorism and we look forward to benefiting from participating in the Alliance.
