Device Allowing Women Have Mess-Free Sex While On Their Periods.
It is the world's first reusable silicone menstrual cup that can be worn while getting intimate
Initmina, a brand in the business of developing products for women, has manufactured a device that lets women have mess-free sex while on their periods.
The device, Ziggy Cup, is the world’s first reusable silicone menstrual cup that can be worn during intercourse.
“Half the world will, once, or currently menstruate,” global brand director Amandine Pranlas-Descours told The Independent. “At Intimina, we believe it’s high time women were offered more choice, more control, and more freedom during her period.”
The device has a two-year lifespan and at £35, seems like a good long-term investment.
According to the manufacturer, Ziggy Cup sits just below the cervix and creates a vacuum seal to catch the blood. Its flat shape, which women insert into their vaginas using a figure-of-eight motion, is so thin, its manufacturer Intimina claims it cannot be felt nor does it cause any irritation.
The device is FDA-approved, can be used for up to 12 hours, requires just cleaning between uses and is designed to stay in place.
This comes on the heels of the launch period-friendly gym shorts in May last year by underwear brand Thinx.
