ABU Prof Develops Two Potent Anti-malarial Drugs


A professor with the Ahmadu Bello University, Umar Katsayel, has developed two potent anti-malarial drugs.

Katsayel who is in the school’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences revealed this in Sandamu, near Daura, on Monday.

According to him, the drugs were developed from the roots of Cissampelous mucronat plant and the stem-bark of Plumeria rubra plant.

He added that they are common herbs found around the vicinity.

”We would soon make the drugs public after satisfying the obvious certification process with the relevant regulatory bodies,” the Don said.

In addition, he noted that the development of the drugs was a product of years of hard academic researches and investigations.

According to him, ”We would redouble our efforts to develop as many drugs as possible.”
