Presidency Mourns Reggae Legend Ras Kimono

Ras Kimono
The Nigerian reggae icon Ras Kimono’s life was one of discipline and service to mankind, according to the Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed.

Mohammed said this in a statement on Monday to mourn the late musician who passed away on Sunday.

According to the minister, Kimono contributed greatly to the reggae genre of music and the country’s entertainment sector.

“Kimono helped to blaze the trail for the phenomenal growth of the Nigerian music industry,” the minister added.

“He was a worthy mentor to the younger generation of Nigerian musicians. His legacy will surely endure.”

He further sent his condolences to the family, friends and fans of the late artiste, and indeed to the entire Nigerian music industry.

The minister noted that the industry has lost “a foremost proponent of reggae, a prominent campaigner for a better life for the people and a patriot.”

He equally prayed God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss, and grant repose to the soul of the departed.
