Seasoned Nigerian writer and Feminism advocate Chimamanda Adichie has joined other recipients to receive an honorary degree from Duke University.

The author was unveiled as one of the recipients on the list of awardees by President Vincent E. Price of Duke University.

The renowned author broke the news on Facebook by posting several photos of the award which she captioned:

“Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie receives an honorary degree during the 2018 commencement ceremony of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.”

Other recipients of the award include, Former Durham Mayor William Bell; Dr. William Kaelin, professor of medicine at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; Mary Barra, Chairman of General Motors; Phil Freelon, lead architect for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture and Russell M. Robinson II, attorney, community leader and philanthropist.
