Nigeria's Enyimba FC Reach CAF Confed. Cup Quarter-Finals

Eyimba FC of Aba
Nigeria’s Enyimba have qualified for the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup after a late Wasiu Alalade’s goal gave them a 1-0 win over stubborn CARA Brazzaville in a Group C game on Wednesday.

It was a winning return for the two-time African champions to the newly renovated Enyimba Stadium, as they battled until stoppage time to subdue their resilient opponents.

The 93rd-minute winner came after Mfon Udoh’s curled free kick came off the post before Alalade fired home.

The win shot Enyimba to the top of the group with 12 points, three more than CARA’s who also qualified for the last eight.

In the other Group C game, WAC and Djoliba played out a goalless draw to remain on 8 and 5 points respectively.
