Why Alcoholic Consumption Is Unhealthy - New Research Reveals

A recent research has revealed that the slightest quantity of alcohol intake increases the chances of getting one of the 23 alcohol-related health problems by 0.5 percent.

This is against a previously-released research that said alcoholic drinks are good for the well-being since they have the high level of healthy antioxidants.

Avoiding heart-diseases was one of the reasons the previous research advocated taking moderate levels of alcohol.

However, according to the new global study, there is no level of alcohol intake that is good for the body.

The research showed that the risks associated with taking alcoholic contents far outweighed any benefits it might bring.

“Previous studies have found a protective effect of alcohol on some conditions, but we found that the combined health risks associated with alcohol increase with any amount of alcohol,” said US lead researcher Max Griswold of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

“In particular, the strong association between alcohol consumption and the risk of cancer, injuries, and infectious diseases offset the protective effects for ischaemic heart disease in women in our study.

“Although the health risks associated with alcohol start off being small with one drink a day, they then rise rapidly as people drink more.”

The research took data from 592 studies with 28 million participants to examine the global health dangers related to alcohol.

They defined an alcohol drink as one having 10 grams of alcohol.
