EU Gives Britain Two Months To Pay 2.7bn Euros Over China Fraud
Britain has been mandated by the European Union to recover 2.7 billion euros ($3.3 billion) in lost customs duties in two months.
The ultimatum was issued on Monday by the EU which threatened Britain with a referral to the EU’s top court after London allegedly ignored a scam by Chinese importers.
“The United Kingdom now has two months to act; otherwise the Commission may refer the case to the Court of Justice of the EU,” a statement by the EU’s executive arm said.
It is understood that the demand is part of an infringement action by Brussels.
