Hosts Germany Tie France 0-0 In UEFA Nations League

Germany and France played out a draw on Thursday night at the Allianz Arena in a game lacking in goals but packed with quality.

The game was France’s first since overcoming Croatia to lift the World Cup in Russia in July.

The two teams may not have found the back of the net, but France forward Antoine Griezmann forced Manuel Neuer into a smart save in a poor first-half with Marco Reus and Matthias Ginter both denied by France goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on his debut.

France host Netherlands in the second group game on Sunday.

After the home and away fixtures between the teams, the group winners move to next June’s finals with the three other League A group winners and the chance to be crowned Nations League champions.
