NCC Holds Consumer Town Hall Meeting In Jigawa State

In a bid to enlighten Telecom Consumers with adequate information on their rights, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC has organised a Town Hall Meeting in Kazuare, Jigawa state.

The 42nd Edition of Consumer Town Hall Meeting with the theme 'Using Information and Education as Tools for Consumer Empowerment and Protection' is aimed at sensitising consumers on their rights regarding telecommunications.

Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau, Mrs. Felicia Onwuegbuchulam, represented by her deputy, Mr. Ismail Adedigba in his opening remark noted that 'this event is one of the initiatives of NCC to bring together Telecom Consumers in the rural areas with the Network operators and regulator to discuss and find solutions to consumers complains'. Adding that the Commission strongly believe that 'Consumer is the King' and as such they must be entitle to their basic rights which include the right to be heard, right of choose, right to be educated as well as right to safety.

Mr. Adedigba further said, the NCC has been inundated with various complaints and the Commission which is consumer - centric institution has taken appropriate steps to ensure that consumers are not cheated.

Complaints desk was also set up at the event with representatives from all the service providers, consumers with various telecom issues present their complains for prompt resolution.

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC  has developed a number of programmes aimed at enlightening telecommunications consumers. The Consumer Town Hall Meeting is one of the initiatives. The commission uses it to bring Telecom Consumers in the rural areas together with network operators to discuss and proffers solutions to issues relating to telecommunications, this is geared towards ensuring that Consumers get value for their money through effective services and clear information from their telecom provider.
