Saudi Arabia Says Jamal Khashoggi Was Killed In Consulate Fight

Saudi Arabia has announced the dismissal of a high-ranking intelligence officer as it said that journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed in a fight in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

To this end, the country said deputy intelligence chief Ahmad al-Assiri and Saud al-Qahtani, senior aide to Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, were dismissed over the affair.

“Ahmad al-Assiri, vice president of general intelligence has been sacked from his position,” state media reported, citing a royal decree.

It was also leaned that Saudi King Salman has also reportedly ordered the formation of a ministerial committee, headed by Crown Prince Mohammed, to restructure the intelligence services.

Khashoggi was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, on 2 October, to pick up paperwork that would allow him to marry his fiancée Hatice Cengiz.
