May To Resign As UK Prime Minister

Theresa May
An embattled Theresa May announced on Friday that she would resign as the United Kingdom's Conservative leader on June 7 “in the best interests of the country,” paving the way for a contest to decide the new Prime Minister after she failed to win over her ministers with a revised strategy to withdraw Britain from the European Union.

“Our politics may be under strain but there is so much that is good about this country. So much to be proud of. So much to be optimistic about,” May said.

“The honour of my life” to be the “second female prime minister, but certainly not the last,” she added.
