Nigeria's Super Eagles Held To 1-1 Draw By DR Congo In Friendly Match
Nigeria played a 1-1 draw with the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday evening
The Super Eagles were on Monday held to a 1-1 draw by the Leopards of DR.Congo in a pre-World Cup friendly in Port Harcourt.
William Troost-Ekong got the goal for the three-time African champions in the 16th minute of the game.
However, a clumpsy challenge by Ola Aina, barely 20 minutes to the end of the game, gave the Central Africans a penalty which was calmly smashed home.
Nigeria battled to re-take the lead but the Congolese held on to grab a point at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The Super Eagles will now head to England where they would take on the Three Lions on June 2.
After the game, the team’s coaches will whitle the provisional list to 23 before heading for the last phase of the camping in Austria.
Argentina, Iceland, and Croatia are in Group D alongside Nigeria for the World Cup.
