Internet Users Hit 113.8m In January — NCC
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) said internet users in Nigeria rose marginally in January 2018 to over 113.8 million.
This was made known by the NCC in its January 2019 Monthly Internet Subscribers Data posted on its website on Friday.
The data showed that overall Internet users rose from the 111,632,516 recorded in December 2018 to 113,875,204 in January 2019, showing an increase of 2,242,688 new subscribers.
According to the data, during the month under review, Airtel and MTN gained more internet subscribers, while the big losers were 9mobile and Globacom.
The breakdown revealed that in January 2019, MTN gained more with 2,031, 214 new internet users, increasing its subscription to 45,931,171 in December 2018 compared to 43,899,957.
It also showed that Airtel was second in the month under review, gaining new users, increasing its subscription to 30,460,528 in January 2019 compared to 29,757,791 in December 2018.
It said Globacom lost 454,409 internet users, down from 28,054,948 recorded in December 2018 to 27,600,539 in January 2019.
NCC data further showed that 9Mobile also lost 36,854 internet users in January 2019 with 9,882,966 recorded in December 2018 compared to 9,919,820.
