Libya PM To Visit Europe To Mobilize Support

Libya's United Nations recognised Prime Minister, Fayez al-Sarraj starts a brief trip to Europe as he seeks allies in his fight against a rogue military commander, according to the BBC.

Before traveling to Germany for talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel, Fayez al-Sarraj travels first to Italy, the former colonial power.

He will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron later on Wednesday, whom he had earlier criticised as supporting rival, Gen Khalifa Haftar.

AFP news agency said on the eve of his visit that the UN was investigating Gen Haftar's use of Chinese drones in an apparent breach of an arms embargo on the warring sides.
